Sean Cronin
Holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Society and a master’s degree in Corporate Communication, where his research focused on the theory and practices of surveillance capitalism.
Experiência
Sean Cronin (Reggio di Calabria, 1994) holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Society, with a dissertation analysing the television series Black Mirror and its relationship with contemporary uses of technology. He also holds a master’s degree in Corporate Communication from the University of Milan, where his research focused on the theory and practices of surveillance capitalism. He participated in the Erasmus+ programme at De Montfort University and at ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa.
He is co-founder of the design studio Quattro Mura and of the online music magazine Recovery Magazine. Since 2010, he has worked as a composer for several artists, including Ainé and Hesanobody. He is also the author of the bilingual Italian-Portuguese poetry book 22 poesie e mezzo che non ho mai scritto/ 22 poemas e meio que nunca escrevi.
Today he is a PhD student in History at NOVA FCSH – Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas in Lisbon, and a member of the History, Territories and Communities research group at the Centre of Functional Ecology of the University of Coimbra (University of Coimbra). He has been awarded a PhD scholarship from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) in a non-academic environment, in partnership with the Mud Valley Institute. His doctoral project focuses on rural community narratives and how they can contribute to processes of ecological regeneration and planetary sustainability.
